Saturday morning. Hubby has requested French Toast for breakfast. No problem, I enjoy cooking food that he likes and can eat. He certainly needs the calories.
Thinking of the gardening projects I would be starting after breakfast, my hands automatically whisked up a couple of eggs and poured some milk into the bowl. I splashed a dash of vanilla for flavour. Turned around to get the bread out of the breadbox, while reaching into the cupboard for the salt & pepper shakers.
Ha! Who says I can't multi-task any more?
It was then that I noticed some little black specks floating around in the mixture.
Noooooo - I couldn't have!
I did not sprinkle pepper into the mixture! A little salt, of course - but pepper??
Oh well, too late now. I went ahead and cooked up his French Toast. I figured with all the syrup he pours over it, he won't even notice.
He didn't.
But my scrambled eggs tasted suspiciously like vanilla.

That's exactly why my wife won't let me cook, because I do that all the time and she does notice.
In fact, my daughter was upset when I put chili powder on her sliced apples. To be honest, I didn't like 'em either. lol
Hey Rick - and you can't even use the excuse that you're menopausal! LOL!
Your great Wendy, just great. Sunday morning and I'm smiling.
You have a wonderful gift.
Hi Wendy
What a hoot! I wonder if pepper and syrup is like chilli and chocolate?
You're doing a really terrific thing with your caring - people who are desperately ill need the support of their loved ones. I should know - my darling partner looked after me through months of chemo and treatment - I will always be grateful to him for that. It really helps to have someone there.
love and light
Oh! That makes me feel better about being me. I do stuff like that ALL the time. :)
That sounds like another post for Menopause Moments! LOL
Hi Jeanmac and Cheryl - thanks for stopping by.
Hi Naturewitch - don't think I'd try the chili and chocolate - it just might bite me back!
Thanks for your supportive words. Some days it's really tough, but with people like you reinforcing the good stuff, I feel better.
Glad you stopped by.
Hi Allie and Bev - glad other people do the same stuff!
I exploded soft boiled eggs.
I did it several years ago when I dropped into a depression. I thought I'd learned my lesson ...but several weeks ago, I went to make my husband wanted soft boiled eggs.
I put them on the stove, and went and sat down. 20 minutes later ...things got loud and popping!! The eggs had boiled dry ..and started to explode!!
So much for soft boiled!!
Oh yes, it's so easy to walk away from something on the stove. I still do it. You made me laugh with the exploding eggs!
Thanks for stopping by.
