Ecomuseum

My daughter and I celebrated our Mother's Day by taking the children to the Ecomuseum. I don't know why it's called a museum, since the animals are all outdoors. Mind you, there is a building on the grounds, where some lectures take place about the habits and history of native animals. The bear pit! We didn't want to get too close to Mr. Bear.

Ah, the otters. Er.... where did they go? There were here swimming and playing just a minute ago. I think I see an otter back in the upper right corner. Or maybe it's the tail?

Jasmine is giggling at their antics, as Mommy holds her up to the otter tank.

Could not get a pic of the otters in motion. They were just too fast for my camera. So here they are, basking in the sun.

We had a wonderful day. Complete with lunch at home and no nap!

Sounds like you had a great day looking at the animals! Hope the weather was better than it is here... grey and damp all day. I can't wait until my little people are old enough to appreciate a trip to the zoo.
Don't worry about the sand box / baby bath, it gets put away in the garage at night... no neighbourhood cats will find it!

That's the kind of outing I like!
Out with the grandchildren, racing around with them and no nap! Phew! I sleep well!

Hi Betsy, we never tire of watching animals, whether at the zoo, ecopark or in the wild. Have a nice sunday too!

Hi Shammickite, it was a beautiful day! This was last tuesday, and the weather was sunny and warm. Today, however is a different story. Rainy and cold!
Good thing your neighbourhood cats can't find the sandbox. LOL! Good idea to put it away at night.

Hi Maggie, this is the best mother's day gift for me too. My daughter thought I'd prefer an outing to a gift and I heartily agreed!

Hi Grammy, oh, it's so hard to capture animals in the wild. They are just too fast. I guess that's their nature. Dolphin trips are really fun! Have a great weekend too!

Now this is the type of zoo/museum with live animals that I would support..nice to see them walking and swimming and lounging around freely without bars!
A nice place to take sweet Jasmine!

Seeing all the animals was fun I am sure Wendy. But I know seeing the wonder in the grandchildren's faces was even more fun. Great pic of your little sweetie!

Sounds like a lovely day. And Jasmine is such a beautiful child.

I had been thinking of visiting the local zoo but didn't get around to doing so. I think reading about your visit prompted me and that's where I was today! It isn't that I wanted to see the animals but the zoo has a good variety of flowering trees. I'm glad I made the trip...just wanted to let you know.

It wasn't too long that these were called zoos. Zoo is no longer PC, so now we call them eco or living museums. Funny lot aren't we?

Thanks for stopping by to visit me. What a lovely blog you have here my fellow Canuck girl.I have just been catching up on your older posts, and I realized that you probably saw me at the Celia's wonderful blog. I just happened across her Blue Cottage blog one day, and have been hooked on her wonderful writing ever since. I am glad you had some relaxation time here in Florida. I understand completely about a caregiver's need to regroup and regather. Count me in as a regular reader...

Cheers,
Sue.

Thanks everyone. I'm glad Kanak you made it to the zoo.

Mark, I didn't realize the "new term" for zoo is museum. Thanks for setting me straight.

Hi florida sue, thanks for stopping by. Will visit you too.

It is nice to blog about our grandkids. And I love to see all of yours. I just hope they stay little for a bit longer. Remember how fast our own children grew up?
Hugs to all.
