Christmas is coming......

Father Oak is waking up from his deep sleep.
Once a year he comes to life on Christmas Eve.
If you listen closely, he has secrets to share.

Little elves are busy getting the house ready for Christmas.

I wonder if this little red bird has been eating all my sunflower seeds.

What's happening at your house?

Wendy, Your decorations are great. I've never seen Father Oak-is he a tradition? Also, really like the Christmasy sidebar.

Gappy Holidays!

Oh Wendy I love Father Oak. He reminds me of old man winter. He must be a joy to have. You are waking up my wanting side as I have buried it so deep. I had lots of whimsy things in my out side garden and most of my decor is still packed. I did buy a poinsettia this year. The kind I can not kill. You inspire me so. To bring the out side in to help the winter blues to subside. Thank you.
Big hug.

I love your decorations. Until I read his name, I thought Father Oak was Ole Man Winter.

The house is decorated, there are a few presents to wrap. Hosting a coffee tomorrow morning.

Washing my hands and wiping down surfaces every 5 seconds, someone brought their sick child over and my husband contracted the infection as well as pink eye. He is not happy about it. One eye looks like it's 1972 and he smoked killer weed.

Have a good weekend.

Father Oak is certainly a unique decoration--I like him!

Right now we are covered in ice after a freezing rain last night. The roads are treacherous, and all the schools are closed. Now I have no excuse for not staying home and and getting the house ready for Christmas! Sounds like a good day for baking, too.

Dear Wendy.....I love father oak......I have never seen anything like that.......it reminds me of Lord of the Rings (which I love)

What's happening at my house......we are having a quiet evening with friends tonight.....tomorrow I am off to the garden centre with Mr P.....I am choosing a tree to shrub for my Christmas present.....sooooooo exciting. Christmas Day the whole family will descend on me.......chaotic but fun.....

I hope you and yours have a spiritual and peaceful Christmas.......

Hi Beckie - no father oak is just a planter I bought a few years ago at a psychic fair. The ivy inside is artificial as it fits better than real ivy. As you can see, I've stuck faeries in the pot of ivy.
I just decided to do it up this Christmas for something different.
Glad you like it!

Hi Grammy - hugs back at ya! It's so much fun to post whimsical things. I am glad you feel the same way. I find that blogging is opening me up too. And I am really grateful to my fellow bloggers for helping me on this path.

Hi Annette -hosting a coffee party? Oh good, I'll just drop over! LOL.
Old man winter? Well, he could be that too. Whatever you like.

HI JeanMac - yes cleaning and decorating. I guess we're all in the same boat. Merry Christmas to you and yours, too.

Hi Rose - it does sound like a good day for baking. Roads icy and schools closed. Stay warm and cozy!

Hi Cheryl, I can't imagine going to a garden center at this time of year, but I'm very happy that you are. Oh, how exciting - you're going to pick out a tree or shrub for Christmas! Have a fun, happy, chaotic and loving Christmas.

Wendy,

Isn't the "getting ready" sweet? I hope your whole family has as much spirit as you...

Wishing you the merriest days of prep and song.

I don't have a poinsettia this year. I tend to kill them - unintentionally, of course.

Hugs,
Mary

Dear Wendy,
Father Oak is perfect for Solstice!
The Holly and the Ivy are all part of a Solstice tradition. The light will be returning soon.
I love the history of Holidays.
Happy Solstice!
Sherry

Hi Mary, yes the prep is fun. Too bad about you and poinsettias. I can't get rid of them! They are still alive and well into summer and it breaks my heart to throw them out. So I keep them on my deck.

Hi Sherry, Happy Solstice to you too. I am so glad the light will be returning. I find the dark days so difficult.
Hugs
