Hi Carin,
Well you certainly are in the New Year, as it's still hours away from me here.
Thanks for stopping by. I'll sip a glass of bubbly to toast in the new year for us all.
Hugs

Happy New Year! It is a good thing we do not know what it will bring;- happiness, sadness, joy, or sorrow. It will likely be a combination of all, to be faced with faith, hope and the love of those dear to us.
Wishing you only the best!

I found your site on the BlogHer home page and yesterday & today read all the archives. My husband had his third stroke in Sept 2001 and came home on Dec. 24, 2001, I have been a full time caregiver since then. The stroke hit smack on speech so he cannot speak, does not understand anyone talking to him (maybe understands some hand signals) and has difficulty swallowing so he has a feeding tube. He had broken a hip one month prior to the stroke and had not fully recovered from that so he is in a wheelchair which he cannot operate himself.

My husband has not had a shower or bath since he came home. I use a wonderful product, Comfort Bath by Sage, to clean him. There are 8 disposable washcloths in a package which gets warmed in the microwave - the directions say to use one cloth for each body part but my husband is not working in the coal mines so one pack usually lasts 3 days. I buy them from drugstore.com - recently found them at WalMart in the pharmacy dept near the disposable underwear. I will be happy to send you a couple of packs to try if you would like. And I throw the used cloths in the washing machine and use them for other things - face washing with plain water, cleaning rags, they are quite useful.

I also use Caregivers Marketplace, a wonderful organization that gives rebates on some caregiving supplies. Their website is:

Such a beautiful light you are shining Wendy. Big hug. Have a wonderful and blessed new year my friend. Amy was told any time now for the baby and if not born by Wed Jan 7 it will be induces. So I reset my widget. Yours are counting down fast too. We both will be rich in Grandkids this year. May all our lights shin so bright this year that we light up the nights with laughter and smiles.
