Does your mood....

......really have anything to do with how your day goes?

Yesterday, I was in a bad mood. Nothing felt right. The old expression "you woke up on the wrong side of the bed" seemed to sum up my cranky self.
It started with Morning Pages. Nothing I wrote made any sense.
Fine. Forget writing.
Maybe I should just forget the whole computer thing for today too.
Fine. No email, no blogging, no nothing.

Decided I might as well run a bunch of errands and get out of the house. Did I really need that pack of sponges at Home Hardware?
No.
Or the spiral notebooks on special at the drugstore?
No.

Hubby had asked me to pick up an audiobook for him at the public library. Maybe I would also find a good book to curl up with in the evening. Something to soothe my frazzled nerves.

Checked out the "new books" first. Nothing.
Went to the audiobook section. Couldn't find Hubby's book. Looked everywhere. Asked the librarian. She couldn't find it either.
Strange.....
Back to the regular book section. Spend nearly an hour searching for a suitable book. Everything seemed wrong. Too romancy, too historical, too boring, I've probably read this, I don't like the cover, I don't like the title.
Finally I settled on a book with a fuschia-pink flower on the cover. This story was set in the jungle. Oooooooo!
And "just-in-case", I chose another one - an old Irish novel.

After supper I settled in with my exotic-looking jungle book.
It sucked. The author was trying too hard; giving away everything from the first chapter. Yawn!

Good thing I got the "just-in-case" book .
The first few pages started off just fine. Until........they found the body. O.K. - maybe not so bad. I like murder mysteries (as long as it's not too descriptive). They found the body in a tree........chained to the branches.....the birds had poked out his ..........never mind. I put both books away. To be returned. As soon as possible!

Today, I woke up on the "right side of bed". I had planned to visit my daughter and help out with the new baby.
I had a wonderful day. Little Nathan is doing well. Got my "baby fix" as Hubby says.
Jasmine and I got Mommy's clean clothes out of the dryer, brought them upstairs and then smooshed them all about on the living-room couch, playing peek-a-b00 with the tea towels instead of folding them.

On my way home I stopped in at the library. I returned those horrible books and just quickly scanned the "new book" section.... "just-in-case" I found something good. Well, didn't I find a brand new book by a favourite author of mine? Right there waiting for me!
Encouraged, I went over to the audiobook section "just-in-case" I'd find the audiobook Hubby had asked me for yesterday.

Well, well - there it was! Staring me in the face as if to say "naw naw - I was here all along!"

I must have spent a total of 5 minutes in the library today, coming away with the perfect books, whereas yesterday it was almost an hour - of wasted time.
Was it my mood... my energy?
Or coincidence?
I wonder.

Hi Wendy, Thanks for stopping by. Your blog is awesome. You were so right. We were posting very similar themes, just using different words. ♥

Hi Wendy, I think we all --being human--have good and bad days. With me, when one thing goes wrong, I seem to make a 'big deal' out of everything else--whether they go wrong or not. I become critical of those little things--which don't even matter!!!!

BUT--I think we do need to give ourselves permission to have a 'moody' day every once in awhile. I used to say it was PMS---but since that is no longer an option, I still think there may be days when our hormones are off. We're just GIRLS and we are moody at times--what else can I say???? ha ha

Glad today was better for you. It's all about ATTITUDE.
Hugs,
Betsy

I am glad you got to see the baby and have fun today. It looks like time for the new one. Any news yet? It was just an off day yesterday. It is like the words of wisdom from Reba. We need a few blue days just for balance. Big hug.

Wendy, have been thinking about you, wondering if that new baby is going to make an appearence soon. :)

Oh yes! Do I have bad mood days! Not nearly as often as I used to but still can ruin a whole day sometimes. I think when we get like that we give off bad karma and everything fights us. But we're entitled to a day day and then. Makes us appreciate the good days.

Take care and enjoy your book.

Glad yesterday was a better day. If you feel as though you woke up on the wrong side of the bed in the future, I recommend chocolate cake or chocolate anything for breakfast. It's amazing how fast the mood departs when faced with chocolate.

Hi Betty-Jo, we must be on the same wavelength. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Betsy, yeah, PMS no longer applies, but I think you've got something there - we do still have hormones that probably jump around all the time without us knowing it.

Hi Grammy, well no news about the new baby. He's not ready to be born yet. The doctor says it will be another week or two at most. So we wait.
Oh, I did have fun with the grandkids. Really makes me feel young again!
Hugs back at ya.

Hi Beckie - I believe it karma too. Really - I think that what you give out you get back in return. Most of the time.
New baby is not ready yet. I think the real "due date" was later this month but the mom wanted to have this baby before her doctor went on holiday (this weekend). Ha! as we all know - babies come when they're ready! I think I'll remove the baby widget since I don't know how to change the time on it.
Thank for asking.

Dear Annette - now why didn't I think of that? The perfect remedy!! We should live closer by so you can come over and have some hot chocolate first thing in the morning. With chocolate cake, of course. Then we could dance through the day!

Wendy, I have days like this, too. In fact, I'm not superstitious about Friday the 13th, because I have a theory that I have my own Friday the 13th's. These are the days where everything that can possibly go wrong, does. Like you, they are usually small things, but they can add up quickly. I sometimes wish I could just go back to bed and start over.

Glad you found a good book, and I'm with Abba's Girl--a little chocolate helps improve the mood!

Hi Wendy.....I think we all have up and down days....I must say I think how you start your day, generally dictates, how the rest of the day will be.....I so know how you felt, I hate those days where nothing feels right (I think it may be hormones)...that is my excuse anyway......

Glad baby is doing well and you had some fun with little Jasmine....

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy your read......

Hi Rose, thank you - I guess we do all have our ups and downs. Sometimes it's good to look back and laugh at the down days.

Hi Cheryl, I'm beginning to think it's hormones too - even though I thought I'd finished all that.
Have a nice weekend too. Grandkids are fun, aren't they?

I love the way you write! You really should do it professionally! I haven't got the patience for writing in such detail but love to read when others do!!

I'm sure it was karma regarding the book. It was bad the day before but good on the day you found the book! I'm a great believer in it myself and you're right...it could have been those awful hormones!

Hi Amelia, thank you for your compliments. Karma or hormones. Hmmmm - maybe both

Life is full of turns, isn't it.

Coffee is on.

Hi Peppy lady - you got that right! And I could use a coffee right about now. Thank you!

Some days it just seems that we can't do anything right. I'm glad you were able to find some good books at the library the next day.

I hope your weekend if full of positive things.

Blessings,
Mary

You're probably correct - a little of each. Sorry you had such a rough day!

sometimes the fates conspire against us, I think! I am glad you are not grumpy.

I know just what you mean Wendy ! Perhaps somedays we are just more easily discouraged than others. I am glad that that the new book in the library waited for another day for you to choose it. Hope that you are enjoying it :)

It is a good thing a day is only 24 hours long and then we get a fresh start.

Glad you got some good books second time round!
I couldn't be without a book to read & am working my way through a box ful that have been given to me. Some of them jump out and some I keep back as they are not so appealing.
Funny how getting out of bed the right way makes all the difference.

Yikes! Where did all my comments go? I think blogger was on strike.
Will have to start again,

Thank you Mary - my weekend went well. Much better.

Hi JeanMac - I think you know what I'm talking about. Hugs.

Hi Mimi - you got that right. About the fates, that is.

Hi Anna - oh, yeah, some days are really weird. I am enjoyin this book by Barbara Erskine. It's just a little creepy, at the moment, though.

Hi Ruth, sometimes 24 hours later, we feel a whole lot better. No explanation - it just happens.

Hi Maggie May - hope you find some good reads too. I wonder where that expression came from "getting out of bed on the wrong (or right) side?

Dear Wendy,
Some days I think it is best for me to just go take a nap! Twenty minutes of laying down and I feel better. I really like the idea of "chocolate" when the mood needs adjusting! It is so hard to say why some days are "yeahs" and others are "nays".
Happy today,
Sherry
