Determination or...

desperation! I was cleaning old dead leaves along with some remnants of snow from our rock garden this morning, when I came across these two little crocus, pushing their way up through the soil.
What a nice surprise! I had to rake up a chunk of snow before seeing these little gems. Goes to show that even under all that snow, the urge to grow and survive is strong.
I wanted to take more pics of the rock garden and back yard to show you how much more snow there is, but my camera batteries shut down!
Never mind. I am pleased to see my first crocus pushing its way up towards the sun.

And in my own journey, I am making preparations for that "get away" I've been wanting to do all winter. There have just been so many things in the way (hubby not feeling well, me feeling guilty, nobody to come and stay with him, etc. etc. etc.).

Well now it looks like things might just come into alignment and I will keep you posted as to my plans.
Have a good weekend everybody. We have sunshine (still cold, but I'll take the sun) and tomorrow is the St. Patrick's Day Parade here in Montreal.
No, I don't go, but others do and they have a wonderful time.

There is a lesson to be learned from the crocuses, isn't there? In fact, Wendy, you remind me of them--determined not to be held down by the weight put on your shoulders. I'm happy that getaway may become a reality--you deserve one!

How wonderful Wendy! Not just the first signs of Spring in the Crocus, but your news of a possible get-away. I will keep my eyes, finger, knees, and toes crossed that it becomes a reality for you! ;-)

I hope so much that you can get away for a little bit, if that is what you meant. I wondered if you meant some other personal things that you never get to do, like the manicures and pedicures!!

Whatever it is I hope you do it without guilt and that it makes you happy...

Stoical crocuses (or is it croci or crocus?) put us to shame. The search for the sun is there in all of us and obviously is the same with the plants.
Lovely photos.

Hi Rose, It's been so hard. There are times when I just want to lie in the snow and give up. But I don't. My children and grandkids keep me going. It was actually a comment my daughter made to me (very innocently) about "enabling" or something of that sort that put a fire under my buns. Other caregivers seem to take time away, why don't I?

Hi Jen, thank you. I will keep you posted. Let' just not cross our eyes, o.k.? LOL!

Hi Mimi - thank you.

Hi Amelia, I meant a real get-away - to the ocean. I can do pedicures (actually I'm due for one), and visit my grandkids as much as possible. Those are mini-vacations. But I need a week in the sun. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Maggie May, yes, I was amazed at how far down under the snow those crocus(es?)(i?) were. (I don't know either what the plural of crocus is).

Wendy---The Crocuses are persistent, aren't they???? I love ours. Glad you are getting some. That means that Spring is TRULY here.

I hope you can get away. All caregivers need some time away to recharge...

Keep us posted.
Hugs,
Betsy

I hope you have your get away. I so enjoyed my trip. Zantec is what Jozlyn is on too. plus 1 teaspoon of cereal per a bottle. Did he have an upper GI too. I have no clue why so many ear infections are so common too. Big hug. Have a great week end

It is cold here again and that has slowed down the growth of spring bulbs a little. But it is cheering to see their brave act of poking through the snow and frozen ground.

Hi peppylady, winter is too long every year. Hope your flowers are coming up too.

Hi shammickite, I hope so too. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

Hi Ruth, yes it is. No matter how cold it gets, we know that it can't stay cold for much longer.

Determination indeed! Pushing their way out, that too under snow! I've always felt that lessons can be learned from plants --determination, resilience etc. Loved your post and the pics.
The St. Patrick parade must be wonderful to see.

Hi JeanMac, what a sweetheart you are! Thank you so much. Too bad we live clear across Canada!

Hi Amy, I need sand, sea and sun. Will let you know.

Hi Kanak, yes, we do learn from plants. And they bring me peace and joy.

Oh gee..I hope you can get away and without feeling guilty. You need to recharge your own batteries or you are no good to yourself or to your husband. And I love the little crocus pushing up....Michelle

Today is my first day to explore the world through blogging and I was led to your site. With sunshine, rest, and nourishment, you too will be like the crocus and continue to bring joy to others. We all need a break to recharge.

Hi Mary, thanks for the support but it isn't going to happen. At least not yet.

Hi Michele, thanks for your kind words. Will try to get away later on in April. For now it's not working.

Thank you Ted, I know, I know. And I love sunshine, warmth, and especially the power of the ocean. Will hope to get away later.
Thanks for stopping by.
