....bring May flowers.
These daffodils are pushing their way up!
It won't be long now. It's raining cats and dogs today, and will be for most of the week.
I don't mind. There is nothing I can do to change the weather anyway.
And all this rain will wash the last bits of snow away.
Refreshing rain to cleanse our Earth.
I was visiting my son and daughter-in-law a week after Baby Owen was born. As I sat in a comfortable chair, cradling Owen, my eyes were drawn to a pretty bouquet of spring flowers, gracing their dining room table.
Hmmm, I thought to myself, someone must have given Kathy flowers for this special occasion. Her mother? No, she's not that kind of a person. Her sisters? Naw, they're not either. A friend then. Must be a friend or a neighbour.
"Who gave you those lovely flowers?" I asked.
Son and Kathy (daughter-in-law) looked at each other, with something like amusement on their faces.
"You did, Mom!"
"Oh." (covering up as quick as I could) "but I thought those would be dead by now, and these look so fresh."
"It's only been a week, Mom."
Yikes! Of course I bought her those flowers. But, I didn't know if she'd even remember to bring them home from the hospital. There is always so much to bring back home again, not to mention a brand-new little person! Besides, some people give their flowers to the nurses, as a "thank-you", which would be perfectly all right with me.
Don't think I fooled either one of them. They probably think I'm losing it. {{sigh!}} are these "menopause moments" ever going to end?

Ha Ha Wendy.... I call those "Senior Moments" --and I seem to have them frequently... Oh Well--'tis life.
I'm sure you are glad that it's raining and not snowing. We're supposed to get really cold on Mon-Wed---and I'm worried about our spring flowers and the roses (which are just beginning to grow)... I'll be glad when winter is over for good this year.
Hugs,
Betsy
Hi Betsy, I hope your flowers don't die. April can be such a weird month - warm and sunny, snowy and cold or just plain rainy. Oh well, at least we're going in the right direction - into warm days, not winter.
Hugs
After menopause moments come senior moments and they get more and more frequent!!
We just had another 8 inches of snow today, did you?
How wonderful the flowers are still looking good.
I have some timers moments. And Have had a hard time excepting them to stop. For me "menopause moments were rage".
I am glad spring is breaking ground for you too. Just the peak of new flowers warm the heart.
I wish I could say it was a transient menopausal thing...... but it gets worse. LOL!
Have a blessed day. Drink some hot chocolate for me.
Great photo point, and would be worth revisiting as they go into full bloom. I really like your writing style. Great handle of grammar and syntax!
As for April showers, we had a few too many of them over the last 2 days.... my back yard was water right across and even my basement had a wet corner.... so I'm looking forward to the may flowers. No more showers for a while, thank you!
Nice to hear you are having senior moments too.... I'm not the only one!
Amelia! 8 inches of snow! Yuk!! No, we only got a sprinkle of flurries. Hope yours melts soon!
Hi Grammy, oh you got that right. Just knowing the flowers will be blooming before long really warms the heart!
Thanks, Maggie May - like I needed that. LOL!
Hi Annette, oh you always have such good advice. Chocolate? Oh yeah!!
Hi Robert, thanks for popping by. I will be taking more pics of those daffodils. They are growing in the front of my house (northern exposure) so will bloom a bit later than those facing south. But I have lots more planted there. In the back, it seems we get more little "nibblers" so I plant less.
Hi Shammickite, we've been lucky so far - not too much rain. However, there is more forcast for this whole week. I'd better get my umbrella out.
Thanks for that Wendy...it is so nice to know that I am not alone......
You always make your 'moments' so funny...God blessed you with a great sense of humour......
Enjoy the rain....your daffs will be flowering soon......
Hi Cheryl, thank you. I guess a sense of humour makes things easier all around. Can't wait for the daffs to bloom. Happy gardening.
I found your comment on tobeme and I relate to the living with someone who is living with emphysema. I watched my mother in law take her last breath because of it and I know that I watch him suffer everyday. Somehow this all didn't seem to be in the cards when you are young and getting married. It was when my grandmother died that I realized how vulenerable we all are.
Green has always beenmy favorite color what a pretty blog.
Grand children are all part of your legacy. Just like the flowers of garden, as they go through the process and cylce of life, so do we as we make room for the growth of the new.
Dear Wendy,
My Mother told me forgetting was great...life was new everyday. LOL
I too have "sometimers".
A week is long for a bouquet of flowers!
Give Owen an extra hug for me please...
Sherry
Yes spring is in the air! Congrats on the new grand baby! Not to worry about what we forget, all that we need to remember we will.
Hi Rachel, thank you for stopping by. You are right. We really don't know how vulnerable we are until our parents or close relatives die. Hope things are o.k. with you now.
Hi Sherry, I like your mom's philosophy! I will certainly give Owen an extra hug. Hugs to you too!
Hi Mark, thanks for popping in. Spring certainly is in the air. Naw, I don't really worry about what I forget (well not always).
LOL, Wendy; I do this all too often. I'm trying to cover up these little "moments" as much as possible, though, before my kids start looking into "homes" for me:)
Yaaaaaay - you have daffodils coming through :) It seems that I often have moments like that too Wendy !
