School Play

Well it's that time of year once again. School is winding down and children are putting on performances for their parents and grandparents to attend. Grandson Ryan was singing in the play Swan Lake. He (along with other children) was disappointed that he didn't get a "part", but I assured him that singing was an important part of the performance.

I do remember those long-ago days when everybody wanted to be dressed up in a colourful costume and star in the show. Everybody wanted the lead part. Or at least an important part. I almost always got relegated to sing. I loved singing, but to be on stage and shining like a star! Wow! It's too bad that only a few chosen children get to be stars. I wish everybody could have that chance.

Well, life isn't about center stage (unless you take that up as a profession) and children need to learn that as one of life's lessons. But in my mind (and heart), Grandchildren are always the Star of Grandma's show!

Hope everyone is having a sunny day (weekend). We're having rain.

You are very blessed to have wonderful grandchildren and that you are able to participate in their lives! Most of mine are so far away :(

Dear Wendy,

That's what grandparents are for--letting our grandchildren's star to shine. No matter how often they are relegated to the chorus, they will always be stars in our eyes.

Cute picture. Ryan has a very nice smile and bright smiley eyes.

Hugs,
jenny

Hi Wendy

That is so true.
I hope you get sun shine too.

Yes...... we all have the very best grandchildren in the world, don't we!
*Star's of grandma's show* I like that.

I used to always prefer to be in the back ground or a chorus or choir when I was a child. Would have had a fit if I'd have been picked for a star part!
Children have a lot more confidence today, Thank Goodness!

How wonderful to be there for your grandchildren, Wendy. Ryan is cute! Your post reminded me of my school days...And shy as I was, I wanted to shine too!! I agree with Maggie May about children having more confidence nowadays.
Sunny days here...we had rain a few days ago. Hope you have a great weekend too!

Those kids are so great. I try to show up for everything, and usually I am pleasantly surprised. The kids are a show by themselves. Got myself a little pillow so I can survive the gym benches!

Thanks everyone. Sometimes I think I shouldn't post about my grandkids. It sort of feels like boasting, but I really enjoy your posts about your grandchildren, so.....

I do feel lucky that my grandchildren are so close by. There are times I don't visit for a while, because of hubby, but at least they all don't live in China!

Rain here again today, but the sun peeked out this afternoon. I hope tomorrow is sunnier and brighter. I need to get out into my garden!

I am glad I met all of you interesting, fun-loving, and supportive people.
