Finally, it was time to get moving, but one of the ladies suggested we stop in at this shop.
I really didn't want to. I had no desire to buy more "dust collectors". I have so much stuff at home.....
That's when this swirly green bowl caught my eye.
It pulled at me.
I ignored it.
It pulled at me.
I still ignored it.
What do you actually do with this?
Hmmm, I wouldn't get it all messy with salad or cookie dough; so it must just sit there.
Well, what's the point of that?
Then I looked inside and saw...
a couple of fishes.
How creative! I wonder what message that person was trying to give as he/she crafted this bowl.
Ooooooo - and that lovely peach-coloured swirl. What depths was this person trying to capture?
The more I told myself I didn't need this, the more this bowl called out to me.
So I gave in and bought it.

I'm glad you did and I would still use it for salads, etc. just for the comments the fish would get over time. You have it so enjoy it!
Beautiful bowl! I can see why you gave in and bought it.
You post such beautiful pictures.
Annette
That is lovely. I am trying so hard not to be more stuff, but there are times when one just can't resist. I can certainly understand why you bought this one.
You were right in buying it. It is wonderful.
This is not a Ichthus Christian fish.
It looks more like a Goldfish: Asian cultures say. Goldfish is a symbol of wealth and good fortune. Its name in Chinese, jin-yu.
The bowl is beautiful and I'm glad you bought it. I'm not sure if I would use it for food. Some glazes are not safe, as they have lead in them and this looks like a vintage piece.
Thanks for sharing your buy.
Blessings,
Mary
Thanks Mimi - I think it's just for decor. Don't think I'd want to wash it.
Thank you Annette - I'm still very much the novice with my camera.
Hi Beverly, I have not bought things, gone home and then wished I had. Sometimes ya can't win.
Hey Grammy - thank you! I thought it looked Asian. Don't really know why. Wealth and good fortune? I'll take that!
Hi Mary, love your little birdies. I agree - I think it has some glaze of some kind. Would rather gaze at it. LOL!
Wendy, I'm trying, too, not to buy any more "dust collectors." But sometimes something just catches your eye and seems to call out to you. This dish is beautiful; it's good to have a few things of beauty around us that we enjoy.
I without doubt would have bought the dish Wendy......I am a Pisces and my sign is two fishes.....so for me significant. I love the colours.....perhaps the ocean and the soft peach perhaps movement in the water.....
It is lovely....I would put it on display with absolutely nothing in it.....
Enjoy.......
Hi Rose,
thank you - you are right. It is nice to enjoy some beautiful things around us.
Hi Cheryl, that's exactly what I do. It sits in the middle of my dining room table with a place mat underneath and some candles or figurines around it.
Hmmmm - if you're a pisces, then your birthday is not too far off.
Thanks for starting this off with Temptation. It was fun.
I love the muted colors - good buy, Wendy.
That's too bad you bought that bowl, cos if I had seen it first you wouldn't have had the chance!!!!
It's really gorgeous.
Perhaps the little fish are the signature of a potter?
How beautiful, Wendy! I am glad you gave in to temptation. It is gorgeous piece. The fish are intriguing, and the swirling colors are so soft and pretty. A very unique piece. Isn't it strange the way a piece can absolutely call to us?
Hi Jean Mac, goodby? Oh, good buy. LOL!
I wondered about that Shammickite. Whether those fishes were the signature of the potter. Who knows?
How right you are, Jen, even when we try to ignore it.
Wendy, once in a while we must give in to temptation. Especially when it is something as lovely as this. We deserve a few things around us that bring us joy. Good for you!
Dear Wendy,
This is a beautiful bowl. You were right to listen. When a piece speaks to me I am charmed. I can see all sorts of uses....
It gives you joy so it could be your joy bowl.
It is wonderful to know you listen to the inner voice...
Namaste,
Sherry
Hi Wendy, so beautifully said. Love that green. I'm sure it's going to have a whole lot of uses. And the fish patterns are cute!
Have a lovely week!
Hi Beckie - thank you - I hope you have some nice things around you too.
Hi Sherry, I like that - a joy bowl!
Hi Kanak, thanks for stopping by. I love green too. Can't you tell? LOL!
What a beautiful find. You were truly meant to take it home.
Hi Carol, thanks for stopping by. It is a beautiful bowl, thanks.
