June is Busting Out All Over!

All over the meadow and the hill.....
And the young Virginia creepers have been hugging the bejeepers....

Don't remember any more of that song. I just remember singing it in high school. Must have been June and spirits were high. School was almost over. Yippee!

June means strawberries.
Warm sunny days.
Soft nights.
Flowers bursting with colour.
The smell of freshly cut grass.
Fledglings learning to fly.
June bugs, beetles, ladybugs, butterflies, dragonflies and bees.
Laughter and fun.
The beginning of summer!

What does June mean to you??

Hi Wendy, I love June too--but what happened to May??????? ha ha...

Summer is my least favorite season simply because I don't like the heat. BUT--when it's cool like it is right now, I love it.. Feels more like spring!!!!!

Love your picture of the strawberries and the lily-of-the-valley...

Hugs,
Betsy

For me it is the loss of spring. My favorite time of the year. Start of summer and heat rising.
The rush of getting the garden complete. Mulching everything possible. So I can sit back and watch my garden grow. BBQ's, fishing and swimming.
and me getting a bit older on the 23rd.
Happy June to you. Summer solstice will be here on the 21st.

Much the same as you really, except we have two major Birthdays to celebrate in June and then there is the longest day (but that is depressing as it means they will be shortening again.)
June means the serious beginning of summer.

June means school is out, and the noise and mess level in the house is up. It means hot nights and hotter days, and only being able to get out in the garden early mornings or at dusk. It means camping out in a dark cool theatre on a blazing hot Saturday afternoon. It means Strawberries, peaches, blueberries, and cherries. It means fresh juicy vine ripe tomatoes. It means homemade ice cream. It means wondering if I can make it through the next three months. Somewhat similar to what you probably feel in January about winter!

I love June. It was a different month back home in Ontario than here.
In Florida it is the swing into Hurricane season, rain every afternoon and blast furnace heat. That said, it is also the time for amzing tropical flowers and palm trees heavy with hanging flowers and seeds as big as lemons.

June still means school is out to me. Having come from the wet side of Oregon and Washington summer is really August, maybe September, the weather can still be mild and wet. I digress, it also meant sitting on my Grandma's porch under the honeysuckle, the Portland, Oregon Rose Festival, trips to the ocean, visits from my own grandkids.

And those yummy strawberries.

Those strawberries look delicious! Your enthusiasm is bursting out of your page!!! I agree with all that's on your list...
Summer brings all that- with lychees and mangoes. And the terrible, terrible heat!! But then again, the rains take care of that, temporarily.
Happy days to you!

May had some beautiful days, but the last 10 days have been cool and rainy. I had to put the furnace on last night and it is still running today. Brrrrrr! Is this really June 1st?

Hi Betsy, it probably gets hotter where you are, so I understand. I like warmth and heat, but not toooooo much!!

Hi Grammy, well, it's been so cold here I can not even think summer solstice! First we need some summer! I like your June list.

Hi Maggie May - right on! Summer come on down!! Birthdays in June, how lovely. I think babies born in June are smart. They get to celebrate in the nice weather. My birthday is in November.

Hi Jen, I like your list - it contains all my favourite fruit! And tomatoes ripened on the vine. Heavenly! Noise and mess? Who cares? I love summer!

Hi Florida Sue - oooooh, it sounds exotic! Seeds as large as lemons? Wow - I'd like to see those! Don't envy you the hurricanes. Stay safe!

Hi Celia - ummm - honeysuckle, roses, trips to the ocean and grandkids? Love your list too! And strawberries, of course!

Hi Kanak, I do like mangos! Terrible heat? We don't have it that bad. It does get hot, but we have A/C and it doesn't last too long.

Hi Ruth, not sure. It's been cold and rainy here too. Doesn't feel like a normal June, but then it will get warmer as the month progresses.
Happy June to you!

Junes means brings heat, time outdoors in the a.m. and p.m. June brings fresh tomatoes on the vine. June brings b-days of very special friends. June brings hurricane season as well as my heart yearning for October. June brings the songs of baby birds and laughing children as they ride bikes and scooters. June brings joy in carefree days.

Wendy, boy do those strawberries look good! We plan on taking grand girls berry picking this weekend. They can eat their weight in them I swear. :)

You've captured June very well-it means all those things to me too.

Take care and enjoy June.

Yumm, those delicious-looking strawberries are making me forget everything else...

June has always been my favorite month. Having been in school, as a student or a teacher, for most of my life, June always meant the beginning of what seemed to be an endless summer. Right now I'm looking forward to getting the garden in order so that I can finally just sit back and enjoy it!

Your grandson Ryan is a cutie; I agree, they're all stars on the stage!

June is a great time of year! So much happening. This year it means a vacation to San Antonio, TX, visiting family and friends, it also means a month where family and friends will come to stay with me for a while. Great times!

Strawberries!! They are the best part of June!

We had snow on Sunday and it's been very cold so I'm hoping it doesn't affect the crop this year.
