Having fun Grandmothering

Grand-daughter Jasmine reading a book. Grandma Wendy had made her a dress and matching hat. How did the hat end up on the floor?

How to get a smile out of her? It's not easy. She keeps looking at the camera, wondering why I'm holding that black square thing in front of my face.

And, not only that - she keeps walking closer to me to check things out. She won't keep still!

Finally! I got Mommy to hold on to her, so she wouldn't move. And to tickle her little feet to make her laugh!

Whew! I now have a great respect for people trying to capture small children in photos. Thank goodness for digital. I must have taken dozens just to get a few clear ones.

What a sweetheart! And what a pretty name she has.... Jasmine. She'll be called Jazz when she gets to school! You got some lovely pictures of her. And what a pretty dress.
At least Callum isn't mobile yet, he's only 5 months old, so it's fairly easy to get pictures of him, be he'll be up and away soon... TOO soon! But he can now roll over in BOTH directions, but hasn't figured out how to get back and has to be rescued.

Oh dear, I hope she won't be called Jazz. But, I know she will, as her mom already call her that. Or Jazzy. Sigh! I wish they'd just leave it at Jasmine.

Callum must be so cute. It's funny to watch them learn something and then try to figure out the next step.
Enjoy your grandmothering! It really is fun.

We've made the same comment about trying to get good shots of Ella. Someone asked Sabrina if they had any new pictures, and she asked them how often they tried to photograph a 22 month old.

I'm going to be with Ella for her second birthday at the end of next week. Yay!

Wendy
What an adorable little girl and such a pretty name for her.
Yes it is difficult getting photos of toddlers but now with digital cameras, we don't have to limit our picture taking.

When I my 9 year-old was little, I could not capture her on video, b/c she'd keep walking around behind me to see "the baby" on the little viewing screen.

Your granddaughter's adorable.

She is really cute. So glad you were able to have time with her. Even if the hat comes off when you don't expect it to, I am sure that she enjoys it.

Beautiful little granddaughter and beautiful outfit. Aren't little girls fun to sew for? I have made many outfits over the years for the grand girls. One Christmas I made 5 dresses all the same except for the size. Grandma just can't do that anymore!

What a cutie! Great job on the dress and hat. I used to sew a little for my daughters, but got away from sewing other than baby quilts for each of the grandchildren.
It makes you wonder how professional photographers manage to get a good photo of kids, doesn't it? Thank goodness for digital cameras!

What a beautiful child!
Hi. Bear Naked sent me. I enjoyed your post so much. Being a grand-
mother too, I doubly enjoyed it.

Hi Beverly, I am so glad you are going to celebrate Ella's birthday. Such fun! Can you believe she will soon be 2 years old?? I goes fast, doesnt it?

Thank you Annette - as the daughter of my daughter, she really is special to me.

Hi Bear Naked - sounds like you speak from experience. Yes, digital is wonderful. And a big thank-you for my first blogging award!

Hi Amy - isn't it frustrating? You try so hard to capture their beautiful moments and all they want to do is figure out what you are doing. Sigh! Ah well, once in a while our efforts pay off and we do capture special moments.

Hi Ann - oh I expected her hat to come off. After all - her grandma hates to wear hats too! And shoes, and bras...LOL!

Hi Beckie - yes, little girls are fun to sew for. I hadn't sewn in years, but wanted to get back into it once again by making something for little Jasmine. Your granddaughters' dresses must have looked so cute!

Hi Cheryl - to tell you the truth, it took me weeks to make that dress and hat. And it was an "Easy" pattern, which should have taken hours. Think I'll try something else next time. Thanks for your kind words.

Hi Rose, I used to sew for my children, but hadn't in years. I never sewed for my other grandkids, I'm ashamed to say. Well, there is only one other girl and she is 12 now. A little too late to start sewing clothes for her. But, her other grandma has sewn and knitted for her over the years, so it evens things out.
I admire you sewing baby quilts. That is something I'd like to try one day.

Hi Carin - thank you.
