Autumn Equinox

Summer is over. It's officially Autumn.
Today is the autumn equinox, where day and night are equal.
12 hours daylight and 12 hours darkness.
A celebration of harvest, balance and peace.

Time to enjoy the harvest.
Time to look at the balance in our own lives.
And find peace in our hearts.

Balance, so easy to pronounce, so difficult to achieve!

Are those apples from your garden?

Wendy, lovely thoughts. If only we could find a balance to our lives. Something always comes up-we have a lot of high drama with 7 granddaughters.:) But wouldn't want it any other way.

Lovely sentiments, Wendy. I had forgotten that the days and nights were balanced now. I love autumn, but I'm not looking forward to shorter days.

I knew I'd find some sort of virtual equinox celebration over here! Unfortunately, "virtual" celebrations are pretty much all I'll get--the high for today is 88 degrees. Summer's far from over where I live, lol.

Love the photo.

I was going to write how much I love autumn and the changes it brings. And I was going to write about the work needs to be done in my garden in preparation for winter and how I love to do that. Suddendly I realised, that probably autumn is not the easiest of times for your 'OH' for the air being so moist it might be even harder for him to breathe. And the work in your lovely garden 'OH' can't do and you need to do again.
And as I was thinking about your 'OH' situation a quotation of Charles Dickens I like very much came to my mind:
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way...

What I mean by that is, it is always one day after the other. Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring but our 'expect the worse' attitude sometimes cripple us to enjoy the good things.

So I do really hope you have a wonderful autumn and promise to dive at least once into a heap of dried leafs as you used to do as a child and simply enjoy it, will you?

Lots of hugs
Carin

P.S. I hope I remember correctly but didn't you forgot the hose outside last year? Shall I remind you in due time to put it inside? LOL

Ah! A harvest of balance and peace. It's what we all strive for isn't it? Unfortunately, it seems to be hard to achieve sometimes. A lovely thought on the balance of day to night. It's almost like everything in nature is constantly striving for balance. Maybe we should think of balance in our lives as more of an ebb and flow than a constant walking a fine line.

Thanks Jeanmac.

Hi Annette - you are so right. It's the balance in my own life I'm working on right now. No the apples are from the internet.

Hi BearNaked - thank you.

Hi Beckie - I can imagine lots of drama at your house, with 7 granddaughters. Fun, isn't it?

I agree Rose, I'm not looking forward to longer nights either.

Hi Amy - sounds like it's still hot in your part of the country. Ah well cool days ahead, I'm sure.

Thank you Cheryl.

You are so right, Carin. I often think of that "it was the worst of times, it was the best of times" I never really knew the rest of that quote.
And we do often dread the worst. I realize that I've been doing that for the past few years of Hubby's illness - now I always anticipate coming home, or waking up in the morning to his happy face - not dreading that he'll be dead when I come home or in the morning.
There are certainly a lot of lessons to be learned in life.

Oh yeah - I will dance with my grandchildren in a pile of leaves (at their house) - we have a lawn service that does our fall cleanup. And yes I did leave the garden hose out all winter. Much to my surprise it worked well this summer (although I really didn't use it much, it was too rainy).
Hugs back to you.....

Hi Morning Glories round the clock - I think that was a very wise thing to say "balance should be an ebb and flow, not walking a fine line." I will think about that. I like it.

Hi Pepperlady, thanks for the coffee. I like lots of milk - like a latte. Ummmmmm.
